MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. - A man has been arrested for an attempted homicide in Soledad after a standoff with police.
Soledad Police said 37-year-old Arturo Calderon was wanted for shooting at another man who was sitting his car on Vosti Avenue. It happened on Tuesday, December 12th, at 11:30 a.m.
According to police, Calderon fired several rounds into the right front passenger side of the vehicle. The victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle that was parked in the driveway.
The victim immediately ducked behind the steering wheel when he heard the shots and was not hit.
Arturo Calderon then took off running on 5th street. When officers approached him nearby he took off again and ran back towards the area where the shooting originally happened. Caledron then barricaded himself inside an occupied home on Vosti Avenue.
With the help of officers from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, King City Police Department and Greenfield Police Department, officers were quickly able to set up a perimeter and surround the home. They were then eventually able to get inside where they found Calderon hiding in the master bedroom.
Calderon was safely taken into custody and booked into the Monterey County Jail for attempted murder, parole violation, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and other criminal violations.
