Man arrested after short stand-off in Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. - A wanted suspect was arrested in Salinas Friday night after a short stand-off.

According to police, an alert from On-Star led them to a stolen car parked in the 700 block of Bellarmine Drive. As officers arrived, 36-year-old Guadalupe Ramirez ran from the area and was found on the roof of some two-story apartments on Palma Drive.

Ramirez jumped from one roof to another before eventually stopping. He then demanded to speak to a supervisor. The on-duty Watch Commander began talking with Ramirez and after about 20 minutes, he agreed to come down and was taken into custody.

Police said Ramirez led officers on a chase two weeks ago, but managed to get away.

Ramirez was booked into jail for resisting arrest and violation of probation. The investigation continues as police work to identify Ramirez as the driver of the stolen car.
