24-year-old Austin Meyer was from Marina, but living in Reno as a student at TMCC, earning his degree in Transportation Technologies -Automotive Certified Technician Emphasis.
Described as ambitious, smart, and hard working, he had dreams of opening his own auto repair shop after graduation. His sister tells us Austin was excited to get married and start a family. She tells us he passed away at the hospital.
While living in Marina, he was a driver for Main Event Transportation based out of Monterey, where he was very well loved by his co-workers and was looking forward to returning upon graduation. Managers of the company tell us it is, "numbing to think this would happen to one of our own."
Austin was a joy to be around, he always had a smile on his face, was witty and was always making people laugh. He was passionate about cars, loved sports, basketball in particular, with his favorite team being the Boston Celtics.
The family would like to thank the firefighter and woman from Minnesota who assisted medical aid to Austin.
