MONTEREY, Calif. - A delegation from the Shandong Province of China recently visited the Monterey Bay to learn about the region's leading industries.
The group was hosted last month by the Brand Monterey Bay business league. Representing both the public and private sector, the group spent two days touring the Salinas Valley, the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel-by-the-sea, Castroville, Moss Landing, Watsonville, Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley.
The tour was aimed at promoting investment in the region.
"The Monterey Bay is being discovered as a premier choice for foreign investment and joint ventures," said G. Stearns, a founding partner of Brand Monterey Bay. "When people think of California, they will also think of the Monterey Bay, which offers that unique blend of a magnificent environment adjacent to one of the major centers of innovation and technology in the world, Silicon Valley."
The group learned about the agricultural technology, marine technology and wine industries, as well as learning about sustainable development opportunities.
