SOLEDAD, Calif. - UPDATE 8/15/2016 11:17 AM: One lane closed on Highway 101 in Soledad re-opened Monday morning after a car that caught on fire was towed away.
Witnesses reported seeing the car smoking in Gonzales and saw the driver jump out of the car while it was moving. CHP said a witness with a fire extinguisher pulled over and helped the driver.
Officers said the driver was heading home to Soledad from Salinas.

The incident near the Soledad State Prison exit is being investigated. It was first reported around 9:45 a.m.
