Evacuation warning lifted in Big Sur area

Evacuation order still in effect for Coast Ridge Road to Marble Peak

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. - UPDATE 8/16/16 5:35 PM: More changes to evacuations and warning from the Big Sur area as crews continue to fight the Soberanes Fire.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, an evacuation order for the east side of Highway 1 from Andrew Molera State Park to Coast Ridge Road at the Ventana Inn has been reduced to a warning. This includes the Ventana Inn and Coast Ridge Road to mile marker 1.5.

The evacuation warning for the west side of Highway 1 from Andrew Molera to Coast Ridge Road has been lifted.

An evacuation order remains in effect for Coast Ridge Road from mile marker 1.5 to Marble Peak.

UPDATE 8/16/16 11:04 AM: On Tuesday, the Monterey County Sheriff's Office lifted the evacuation order for Coast Road from mile marker 2 to Highway 1 at Andrew Molera State Park. Additionally, there isn't an evacuation warning for this area.

An evacuation order is still in effect for the east side of Highway 1 from Andrew Molera State Park to Coast Ridge Road. An evacuation warning is in effect for the west side of Highway 1, also from Andrew Molera State Park to Coast Ridge Road. 

PREVIOUS STORY: The Monterey County Sheriff's Office lifted the evacuation order Tuesday for Coast Road between Highway 1 at Bixby Bridge and the 2-mile marker of Coast Road.

Evacuation orders remain in effect for Coast Road south of the 2-mile marker to Highway 1 at Andrew Molera Park. The evacuation orders cover all areas accessed by Coast Road.

All other previous evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect.
