SALINAS, Calif. - A number of local agencies and organizations have mobilized to help victims of the Soberanes Fire. Most agencies prefer cash donations to best help fire victims. Some accept donations of clothes, blankets or other items. This list is provided by the Monterey County Office of Emergency Services.
Recovers -- Designed to connect individuals in need with individuals who have services or items to offer.
Community Foundation for Monterey County -- 100% of all money donated goes towards local community recovery.

American Red Cross -- Provides emergency aid, recovery assistance. Evacuees or people worried about evacuees may register on the Red Cross's Safe and Well web site: here
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for Monterey County (SPCA) -- Accepting small bags of pet food. Drop off at SPCA facility at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway.
United Way of Monterey County -- 2-1-1 Monterey County provides updated emergency information to concerned residents and continues to connect people to needed services.
Food Bank for Monterey County -- Donations of pre-packaged food purchased from a retail or commercial store can be earmarked for victims or workers related to the Soberanes Fire.
Be aware, scammers are quick to take advantage of disaster situations and can sound very convincing while taking your money. Know who is getting your support.
