Salinas moves ahead with economic development plan

Big turnout for Salinas economic development plan

SALINAS, Calif. - Salinas is moving ahead with a plan to make some big improvements.  The city's Economic Development Element plan calls for an economy that's more prosperous, healthy and stable.  City leaders said public outreach to residents, businesses and organizations is a major focus.

"By focusing on economic development on jobs, on workforce investment on education on quality of life as the centerpiece towards the future policies and programs that the city comes forward in all areas," said Salinas Project Manager/Consultant Doug Yount.

The plan still needs final approval, which the city said will likely happen toward the end of this year.  Some of the ideas include making Salinas the agriculture tech capital of the U.S. and training the city's workforce for tomorrow's jobs.
