Two men arrested in Monterey County child porn, molestation cases

SALINAS, Calif. - Monterey County Sheriff's investigators have arrested two men on charges related to child pornography and child molestation.

Matt Grenzebach, 36, and Alejandro Ramos, 18, were arrested in two separate incidents.

Grenzebach was arrested August 2, 2016 at his home on Echo Valley Road in Salinas. Investigators say they found thousands of child pornography images and videos along with quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Grenzebach was employed by the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District as a Behavior Technician at Los Arboles Middle School. The school district said pending the outcome of the Sheriff's investigation, Grenzebach has been placed on administrative leave to ensure he has no further access to students.

Grenzebach was booked into the Monterey County Jail and the case has been referred to the district attorney's office for prosecution. Due to the large number of child pornography images and videos, investigators say the case may be referred to federal prosecutors.

Ramos was arrested August 4, 2016 in Prunedale during a sting operation. Detectives say over a two-year period, Ramos had sent inappropriate text messages to a 9-year-old child he met while volunteering at the Castroville Community Center summer day camp program. Detectives posing as the child messaged Ramos and he believed he would be meeting alone with the child when he was arrested. Ramos was booked into the Monterey County Jail and is being held on $1,400,000 bail on child molestation charges.
