SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The City of Santa Cruz is working with several organizations to raised awareness about distracted driving.
The city partnered with AT&T, public safety and community organizations to help kick off Santa Cruz Street Smarts on Wednesday, September 13th.
Santa Cruz Street Smarts is a campaign to educate the public about the dangers of smartphone distracted driving. It also aims to reduce the number of traffic-related crashes and injuries in Santa Cruz. The citywide initiative was developed by the Santa Cruz Public Works Department with support of the Police Department.
At the kick off celebration Wednesday, AT&T also showcased two distracted driving virtual reality simulators at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
