SALINAS, Calif. - A Salinas man has been sentenced to four years in prison for beating a woman with a pole.
According to the Monterey County District Attorney's Office, the victim went to visit 38-year-old Edwin Sanabria Santiago at his work on August 20 when he accused her of cheating on him. Santiago dragged the woman inside his shop on E. Market Street where he beat her with a metal pole and held her down, and punched her in the head.
"Santiago beat the victim with such force that the victim suffered a temporary hearing loss and was treated for injuries on the scene," said the DA's Office.
Santiago was sentenced to four years in state prison on three felony charges including domestic violence, assault by means likely to cause great bodily injury, and false imprisonment.
On October 27, 2017, Santiago was convicted on all three counts.
