Salinas Police arrest suspect in Motel 6 murder

SHOOTING SUSPECT AT GUNPOINT

SALINAS, Calif. - UPDATE 6/15/17 8:02 p.m: Salinas police arrested a man in connection to the shooting death of Alexander Rene Durazo at a Motel 6 last Wednesday night.

Based on information from the Marina Police Department, Salinas Police detectives were able to get enough evidence to arrest Seth Michael Faulkner, age 25, for Murder. Detectives arrested Faulkner at the Salinas Police Department without incident. He was transported to the Monterey County Jail and booked for First Degree Murder.

His bail was set at $3.3 million.

UPDATE 6/14/17 12:30 p.m.: Salinas police have identified a man shot near Motel 6 last Wednesday night as Alexander Rene Durazo, 28, of Bakersfield.

Investigators said Durazo was shot several times at about 9 p.m. at 140 Kern St. and died at Natividad Medical Center.

Police are still looking for the suspect.

UPDATE 6/8/17 2:30 A.M. - Salinas Police say the 28-year-old man shot near Motel 6 Wednesday night has died.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m.

The victim was taken to Natividad Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

His identity will be released after his family is notified.

The investigation is ongoing but it is unclear what led to the shooting.

Witnesses say they saw a man wearing dark clothing running after the shooting but no other suspect information is available at this time.

This is the city's 19th homicide of 2017.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Salinas Police say one man was found shot outside a room at the Motel 6 on Kern Street, Wednesday night. He was taken to Natividad Medical Center. His condition is unknown.

Police have detained one man on Madeira Street, but are still trying to determine if he was involved in the shooting.

The CHP and the Monterey County Sheriff were both called to help with the scene.

This is the second shooting for Salinas Police in just two days. On Tuesday night a 16 year old girl was shot in the back on Terrace Street. She's expected to be okay.
