Salinas Police identify man shot and killed on Holly Street

SALINAS, Calif. - UPDATE: 12/14/2017  2:01 p.m. Salinas Police have identified the city's 29th homicide victim as 29-year-old Gonzales resident, Hector Oswaldo Sandoval. 

Sandoval was shot and killed on Monday, December 11, in the 700 block of Holly Street. Officers arrived and found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police said there may be two suspects involved in the homicide. A dark colored mid-size sedan was seen leaving the area after the shots were heard.

Salinas Police are still looking for suspects in a shooting that left one man dead. 

Police believe the victim was in his 20's. The shooting happened in the 700 block of Holly Street around 4 p.m. Monday. 

Police said there may be two suspects involved in the homicide. A dark colored mid-size sedan was seen leaving the area after the shots were heard. 

"These kinds of incidences they really do put a large tax on what we're able to do and then the amount of follow up that we're already doing in regards to other investigations, it just increases the burden, but then at the same time we take every case like this seriously and we put as many manpower hours into it as we possibly can," said Commander Stan Cooper. 

This marks the city's 29th homicide of the year and is stretching an already short staffed police force.
