Freedom man thought to be driving green Ford Explorer with gray hood

CAPITOLA, Calif. - Capitola police have identified the man they believe stabbed another person Saturday on the 300 block of Hill Street.

An active warrant was issued for Alberto Julian Mendez, of Freedom, Wednesday.

Officers say the 23-year-old fled the scene after stabbing the victim, who is in a Bay Area hospital in stable condition.

Investigators believe he's driving a green 1993 Ford Explorer with a gray hood.  It has California license plate #3DJF190.  He stands 5 foot 5 and weighing 140 pounds.  He has black hair and brown eyes.

Police warn that Mendez should be considered dangerous.  If you see him, call 911.
