Santa Cruz officers reunite owner with stolen bike

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Officers said they returned a stolen bike to its original owner after being spotted at San Lorenzo Park in Santa Cruz.

The owner of the bike had reported the bike stolen on Monday.

The next day the bike was spotted and officers said the description matched the stolen bike report.

Officers said the person with the stolen bike was cited for possession of stolen property.

Police want to remind bike owners to register all bikes for free online.

When the Santa Cruz Police Department recovers lost or stolen bicycles, the first thing they do is check the serial number.
