Short vehicle pursuit leads Salinas Police to drugs and loaded gun

17-year-old arrested

SALINAS, Calif. - A juvenile on probabtion was arrested in Salinas for running from police and being in possession of drugs and a loaded gun. 

According to Salinas Police, an officer attempted to pull over a car with four men inside in the area of Del Monte Avenue and Sunrise Street. During the attempted traffic violation stop the car sped away and police said the four men got out of the car and ran. 

A 17-year-old boy tried to hide inside a random home but officers were able to arrest him. 

A loaded gun was found under a car in the driveway where the juvenile had ran. Officers found the juvenile also had cocaine. 

"Shortly after arresting the suspect, another loaded revolver was located inside of a mailbox where one of the other passengers had ran to," said Salinas Police. 

The 17-year-old was booked at juvenile hall for weapons, narcotics, and gang related charges.
