SOLEDAD, Calif. - A hit and run left an 82-year-old man dead in Soledad Friday morning.
According to Soledad Police, Rafael Monarres Cardenas was crossing San Vicente Road east of Front Street around 5:36 a.m. when a car hit him. Police said the suspect's car stopped momentarily and then took off.
Officers and paramedics found the victim conscious and lying in the middle of San Vicente Road. Cardenas passed away on his way to Natividad Medical Center.
Officers did a follow-up at the scene and located video footage of the accident. The suspect vehicle appeared to be a smaller, older model, single cab pickup, blue in color. Police said the vehicle should have left front damage.
