SAN MARTIN, Calif. - A San Martin man died in a high speed crash on Highway 101 over the weekend.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 20-year-old man driving a 2003 Nissan sped by a CHP patrol car near East Dunne Avenue on December 2 around 1:06 a.m.
CHP lost sight of the Nissan but saw arched electrical lines which led them to where the Nissan crashed in San Martin.
The car was found flipped on the far side of a creek embankment.
CHP said firefighters had to flip the car over before they could check the condition of the driver. The driver died at the scene. Investigators said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
The crash is still under investigation.
