Stolen Aptos Christmas ornaments found in Watsonville

Suspects identified, investigation ongoing

APTOS, Calif. - UPDATE: 12/4/2017 2:38 p.m. Thanks to an alert citizen, all 12 Days of Christmas ornaments stolen from Aptos have been returned to their rightful owner. 

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, a deputy followed up on a lead and was able to recover the decorations at a home on East Lake Avenue in Watsonville. 

"Deputies have identified multiple suspects and the investigation is ongoing," said the Sheriff's Office. 

9 of the 12 Christmas ornaments were stolen from in front of an Aptos residents home the weekend of November 25. The owner hand painted the ornaments and put them up on display along the 2200 block of Valencia Road. 

The Sheriff's Office said thanks to the great work of the community the owner is happily reunited with his Christmas decorations.

9 of 12 Christmas ornaments were stolen from in front of Aptos resident, Stephanie Casper's home over the weekend. Casper said the ornaments were hand painted and displayed the 12 days of Christmas along the 2200 block of Valencia Road.

The story was posted in the Take Back Santa Cruz Facebook group to help spread the word, and hopefully recover the cherished items.

"It took us years to make them and they are family heirlooms. I can't stop crying at the moment," said Casper. 

A police report was made and the Casper family is hoping whoever took the heavy ornaments and two large white reindeer is caught.
