Weather Authority Forecast Summary

Slowly cooling

High pressure will slowly weaken in the coming days, finally allowing inland areas to cool down a bit. On the coast, flow will remain onshore with at or slightly below normal temperatures and the daily cycle of low clouds.

Overnight: Low clouds thicken and push inland. Some patchy fog possible. Expect coastal lows in the low to mid 50s with low 50s to low 60s inland.

Sunday: Low clouds near the coast, otherwise sunny. Warmer on the north side of the bay and a bit cooler on the south side with coastal highs ranging from the low 60s to low 70s. For inland areas, highs will range from mid 70s to around 100ºF.

Monday: Low clouds near the coast once again with breaks of afternoon sun. Sunny and breezy inland. Highs in the 60s to 70s at the coast with 70s to 90s inland.

Extended: Northwesterly surface flow early next week will keep Santa Cruz sunny and a few low clouds on the south side of the bay. Coastal highs will average out to seasonable readings. Inland highs will cool down close to normal as well under sunny skies. An uptick in low clouds is possible by mid-week, cooling the coast slightly.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for July 2nd-8th calls for the likelihood of above normal temperatures and near normal precipitation, though little to no precipitation typically falls this time of year.

El Niño/La Niña STATUS: Neutral
Forecast: Weak El Niño is possible in the coming months.
