New type of Starbucks arriving in Hollister

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION) The City of Hollister, considered a commuter town, is getting another Starbucks on the Northside of town.

While the coffee chain announced the closure of some 400 stores earlier this summer, it is moving to open stores that are health and safety-oriented in response to the pandemic.

The store in Hollister, along San Felipe Road, will feature outdoor seating and will be drive-thru friendly. In more populated areas, Starbucks will only be accepting mobile orders.

Still, some in Hollister are second-guessing whether a Starbucks was the best decision and use of the commercial space.

Only about 20 jobs will be created, and there is concern about the easements to the lot with customers driving in and out of the area. Still, neighboring businesses are welcoming the Starbucks and hoping that it brings them more traffic.
