SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) There was a brief power outage in Santa Cruz Monday night after a vehicle flipped and hit a fire hydrant and utility pole.

Officers responded to the crash on the 300 block of Encinal Street. No other vehicles were involved and nobody was injured, but the Harvey West area and the upper west side briefly lost power.

Police are reminding drivers that distracted driving is one of the leading causes of crashes, so drivers should check for possible distractions before driving.
