SALINAS, Calif. - UPDATE: 8/16/2018 8:23 a.m. A 3-year-old boy was ejected from a vehicle in a two car crash just south of Salinas.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford F-150 truck was attempting to make a left turn on Highway 101 near Spence Road when a delivery truck going north struck it. The F-150 spun out of control and the boy was ejected from the F-150 and landed on a northbound lane.

The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Smart 72 delivery truck was blocking the northbound lanes and at least one lane going south was also blocked.

The CHP said the child was in a booster seat but not properly fastened in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The 3-year-old was flown to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center where he remains in stable condition.

The 3-year-old boy, his mom and the driver of the Ford are from King City.
