Gang member leads Salinas Police on chase, collides with two cars

SALINAS, Calif. - A Watsonville man on parole led Salinas Police on a chase before crashing into two other cars. 

According to Salinas Police, the vehicle pursuit occurred on December 3 around 11:56 a.m. Officers responded to the Del Monte and Rider Avenue area regarding a suspicious person with a gun arguing with his ex-girlfriend. 

"He reportedly left the area in a white Chevrolet Impala with the girlfriend who he may have kidnapped," said Salinas Police. 

24-year-old suspect, Cesar Nieblas, a gang member from Watsonville was located in the 600 block of Williams Road but refused to comply with police. Officers chased Nieblas from East Salinas to North Salinas before he collided with two cars in the intersection of North Main Street and Boronda Road. 

No one was injured. Nieblas car was disabled and he fled from the crash on foot. Officers were able to catch up to him a short distance away and took him into custody. 

Witnesses told police that Nieblas had a black semi-automatic firearm but officers didn't find it.

Nieblas was booked into the Monterey County Jail for parole violation, gang member with a firearm, domestic violence, vehicle pursuit, criminal threats, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
